Mazda contest drives onto campus

It's hard to imagine Carleton University as a place where an online driving simulation game for Mazda would be filmed. Fuel Industries, an online entertainment and advertisement-gaming company, is behind the filming of a promotional online videogame called Campus Joyride that took place around Carleton's campus Jan. 7. The game is being filmed on two other Canadian campuses: Queen's University and Bishop's University. Director Cy Hogg describes the game as "spot the Mazda." The cars were filmed strategically placed along driving paths at each campus and the player's job is to click on the Mazda as they notice them when they are driving by.The game offers other details, such as being able to change the radio station."This is where the competition comes in," says Ryan Anderson, public relations manager at Fuel Industries.Mazda is holding a competition for university bands to provide the soundtrack for the game, which will feature groups with at least one member currently enrolled in a Canadian university.Bands can upload their songs to a website and the public will vote for the top 25.
